Tuna · Discord Bot

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Tuna is a Discord bot providing moderation, economy, leveling, and utility features for servers that add it. This page explains what data Tuna collects, why, and how you can ask for it to be removed. Tuna is an independent hobby project, not a company — data stays under the direct control of the person running it, described throughout as "we" or "the bot owner."

1Information we collect

Tuna stores only what its features need to function, tied to your Discord user ID and the server (guild) ID where it happened:

What we deliberately don't store: the content of your regular messages isn't logged or saved anywhere. A short-term, in-memory cache of recently deleted or edited messages exists per channel to power the snipe feature — this lives in the bot's active memory only, is never written to disk, and disappears the moment the bot restarts.

2How we use it

Data is used exclusively to run the features you or your server's admins choose to use — showing your balance, calculating your level, listing your warning history, running a giveaway you entered, and so on. We don't sell data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone outside of what's described in this policy.

3Third-party services

A few commands send data to outside services, only when you actively run them:

4The web dashboard

If you log into the web dashboard to manage a server's settings, we use Discord's own OAuth2 login — we never see or store your Discord password. During login, Discord shares your user ID, username, avatar, and the list of servers you're in along with your permission level in each, so the dashboard can show only servers you're actually allowed to manage. This is held in a session tied to your browser and is not added to the bot's permanent database; it clears when you log out or your session expires.

5Data retention & deletion

Data for a server is kept for as long as the bot remains in that server. If you'd like your individual data (warnings, balance, level, etc.) removed, or if a server owner removes the bot and wants their server's data deleted, contact the bot owner using the details below — we'll remove it on request rather than automatically, since we can't tell the difference between "leaving a server" and "an outage" on our own.

6Age requirements

Tuna is intended for use within Discord, and follows Discord's own Terms of Service, which require users to be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country, if higher). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone below that age beyond what Discord itself already requires for having an account.

7Security

We take reasonable steps to protect stored data, including keeping credentials out of source control and restricting dashboard access to verified server admins. That said, this is an independently run hobby project, not an enterprise service with a dedicated security team — treat it accordingly, and avoid putting sensitive personal information into moderation reasons, auto-responders, or any other free-text field.

8Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change too. Meaningful changes will be announced through the bot's support server or Discord bio where possible.
